I am using getpocket.com to organize all of my findings online. At this point I am not sure how to share the list of findings with everyone but as soon as I figure it out I will edit this post to include my list.
Case study analysis round 2: Examples of 21st century learning
The video I chose to analyze for demonstrations of 21st century learning is “Teaching Math with Coding and Robots”
The use of coding in mathematics, in particular Math 1, has been a huge movement in our district. The logical and sequential thinking required for coding lends itself well to mirroring the thought processes required for mathematical problem solving. Students in these classes are often engaged in collaboration and critical thinking as they devise algorithms required to make their robots perform certain tasks. This is a clear demonstration of 21st century learning as students are often required to use their understanding of math content and apply it in real world situations to demonstrate the 4 Cs. Math and coding requires students not only to have the procedural knowledge required via the standards but they must also be able think critically about leveraging that knowledge to solve problems.

Case study analysis round 1: Examples of 21st century learning
In looking for examples of 21st century learning being demonstrated in classrooms I watched the following videos:
1. “The social brain” based on the work from researcher Patricia Kuhl.
21 century skill or tool exhibited: Communication and collaboration
https://www.edutopia.org/video/social-classroom
2. Constructions – Square inscribed in a circle
21 century skill or tool exhibited: TestNav
https://www.teachertube.com/video/construction-square-inscribed-in-a-circle-467078
3. Effective teaching with technology, Math
21 century skill or tool exhibited: Plicker
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-llFvGo-EAs
I am choosing to review the second video I watched due the tools showcased and the relevance to instruction that I do in my classroom.
